Vancouver in Flames (Arena) Again…

No more food, way more hockey.

These are words I intend to live by with the passing of Christmas, and Boxing Day is the right day to start this resolution.  Besides, we ate everything—including the leftovers—so the food is gone anyway.

About hockey, well, there’s a lot of it worth watching today. We’re going to start with the World Junior Championships and enjoy the Canada vs Sweden game this morning, including Canucks’ prospects Luc Bourdon (Team Canada) and Daniel Rahimi (Team Sweden).  Here’s a PDF file of the lineups today, with thanks to a friend who pointed it out to me.

Other Vancouver Canucks kids playing in the tournament for their various countries include Mario Bliznak and Juraj Simek. (FYI, Hockeys Future has a review of Canucks prospects in the WJC.)

Okay, now let’s turn our focus back to the Vancouver Canucks in Flames—you know, the ones who make the big bucks and who are already busy losing hockey games for the Mother Team?  There’s a few problems…

Bad Things

(1) Vancouver is heading into Calgary on a 3-game losing streak.

(2) Losing horribly to Calgary is unpleasant. Losing to Calgary in their own building while they’re on a record-setting home-game win-streak sucks even worse.

(3) Alain Vigneault is now publicly blaming his team for sucking. (True enough, but I’m also blaming Vigneault, thank you very much...)

(4) Vancouver now has the LOWEST number of goals-for in the NHL. Yes, we’re even worse than St. Louis.

(5) And, having nothing to do with the game tonight, Don Cherry’s Anti-Rory Rant on HNIC the other day is still sort of pissing me off. Here’s hoping Fitzpatrick picks up a hat-trick tonight.
